We will do all that needs to be done to set you up with a self-managed website, so that all you will need to do is add content to your website. To that end, we will:
install WordPress: we will install the latest version of WordPress on your current host (which will necessarily create a new database),
install themes: although WordPress comes with a couple of default customisable themes, we will install an additional one that will enable you almost fully edit the look of your website. This theme is a bit tricky to use but you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to,
install plug-ins: we will install a number of plug-ins we have found very useful since we have been using WordPress. For example,
- a plug-in that will enable you to edit the content of your web pages as you would in Word ie. by the use of a toolbar,
- a plug-in that will speed up access to your website by caching its pages,
- a plug-in that will enable you to have your pictures shown full size by a mouse click (just as it works on this very site),
- a plug-in that will enable you to make your web pages search engine friendly. This plug-in is excellent and will require you to understand about search engine optimisation,
- a plug-in that will enable you to set up what information you want your visitors to send you on your ‘contact us’ page,

To Help You Get Started
Furthermore, to help you get started with your self-managed website, we will take care of all the setting up and configuration so that all you will need to do is add content to your pages. To that end:
template: we will activate the template that you like the best,
banner, logo and slogan: we will put together a great banner, logo and slogan for your web site,
blank web pages: we will prepare 5 blank web pages with appropriate links on the menu. All you will need to do then is add content to these pages,
’contact us’ page: we will set up a fully functioning ‘contact us’ page so visitors to your site will be able to contact you by email.
Requirements
In order for us to be able to install a fully functioning copy of WordPress on your host, there are certain requirements that your host will need to meet. If you are not sure about how to check these, get in touch with your host and ask them if you can run WordPress on your website.
Be aware that to use WordPress to manage your website, you will need to do all the work online through your browser. This means that you will need an Internet connection and a browser such as: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari and so on…

Our standard service does not include:
the purchase of a domain name such as www.my-business.com, and
hosting which is the ‘location’ where your web site is available for all to see online.
However, we can help you with both these if you are not sure about how to get a domain name or how to do the ‘hosting’ thing.
