So, you have registered your business with our web site. Now what?
Well, now you need to go back to your listing and make sure that your listing is focussed on your visitors.
Let me explain why...
One consistent problem I see online is that many business listings do not focus on their potential clients when promoting their business.
They instead focus on their business...
They talk about how long they have been in business.
They talk about how many satisfied customers they have had.
They talk about how many employees they have.
They talk about the products they have.
Now, don't get me wrong...
There is a place for mentioning these things. But it is not how you attract potential clients.
The reason for this is that when people read a business listing online, they want to know...
What's in it for me here?
What do they offer that I need?
What do they have that I want?
And because we are emotional creatures, we need to address these questions at an emotional level.
You see...
A lot of decisions customers make are not totally rational.
Our emotions have a lot to do with whether we want to buy a product or not.
Our emotions have a lot to do with whether we want to pay for a service or not.
Think about it yourself...
When you buy something, is it always a rational decision?
Now, I am hoping to write a series of articles that will focus on how to set up your business listing for maximum effect, taking into account this emotional factor.
To that end, I will be addressing the following issues.
What keywords are. Why they are important. Which keywords you should avoid and which keywords you should include.
How to word your title. Why you should include your keywords.
How to word your description. What 'formula' you should use to attract potential clients. Why you should include your keywords.
What photos to include and why. Why the quality of your photos is important.
How to word your messages. What 'formula' you should use for maximum benefit. The one thing you should include.
You may now be concerned about all the extra work you will need to do to fix up your business listing.
But... Don't worry...
What you will learn through the articles to come will be of tremendous value as your new found knowledge will be transferable.
This means that, for example, if you want to use Google Adwords to promote your site, then you will know how to word your ad for maximum benefit.
Until next time...
